Christmas window dressing
November 30th, 2012 by Theme Production
When I was little I wanted to be window dresser, as I grew up the creativity of the themes still greatly appealed to me. This is perhaps why I grew up to become an event planner to create these beautifully lit tableaus of gorgeousness just on a slightly different platform.
December fuels my obsession for Christmas window dressing in London! Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Selfridges all battle it out for the number one spot each year. In my opinion this years winner is Harvey Nichols (middle image below) as they are exciting, exuberant and an assault on the senses – almost like staring into a box of Quality Street! Harrods (below right) have gone with fairytale Disney Princess theme which is beautifully lit and very well considered. Sadly I am, however, disappointed with Selfridges (below left) Christmas window dressing this year, to me they’ve tried to be a bit too clever. I don’t quite get the ‘boxer in the ring’ connection and the iconic yellow colour of Selfridges seems to be at odds with ‘Christmas’. Style is of course subjective and you may ardently disagree!
I’m probably looking at the Christmas window dressing displays with my event mind. An event [window display] that makes you go ‘wow’ as it’s filled with colour, vibrancy and interest is preferential to me to an event [window display] that is pared back and overly subtle!
Happy window shopping everyone, each store is definetley worth a look!
Alternative London cinemas – It’s cinema with a difference!
November 23rd, 2012 by Theme Production
Going to the cinema isn’t quite the experience it used to be. No ‘B’ movie, the popcorn and drink costing more than the ticket itself and being ‘in and out’ of the cinema within an hour and half means you can sometimes leave feeling a little unfulfilled and ripped off. However there are number of alternative London cinemas providing everything from ‘luxury’ to ‘quirky’. These can be just as a night out for you and friend or can be hired for a corporate meeting or screening.
The stunning Berkeley hotel has an Winter rooftop cinema which runs from now until early January with tickets costing around £50 each and screens a selection of winter movie classics such as Miracle on 34th Street and Love Actually. Unfortunately tickets are only available on weekdays as the prime time screenings at the weekend are reserved for Berkeley residents only.
The Aubin Cinema is owned by Aubin and Wills, the high end sister brand the ever popular Jack Wills. This cinema, based in the trendy Shoreditch area will be sure not to dissapoint with just the right mix between style and comfort with its luxurious sofa style seating with cosy cushions.
If neither of the above are quite different enough for you maybe this option will truly excite.. Hot. Tub. It really is cinema with a difference! All over East London this new concept is blowing up (literally)! Hire your inflatable hot tub for the evening and take a group of friends for a party with a difference..
